participated in the regional pre-validation workshop of the Yoko communal forest management plan, held in Yaoundé under the Forest-Environment-Climate Project (ProFEC) implemented by GIZ, in collaboration with MINFOF and MINEPDED.

This workshop is part of the implementation of Cameroon’s new forestry law adopted in July 2024 and represents a key milestone in participatory and sustainable forest management, emphasizing:Local consultation, involving traditional chiefs and surrounding communities.Consideration of Indigenous Peoples’ concerns, including the Bororo communities.Inclusive land-use planning, aiming for a fair balance between resource exploitation and biodiversity conservation.

Key Outcomes: Presentation of the consolidated management plan with integration of local and departmental recommendations. Technical and institutional validation of the document. Collective commitment toward equitable and sustainable forest governance.ECODEV’s Contribution:As an organization dedicated to socio-environmental issues and community rights, ECODEV actively supports this process, which aligns with SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
